Salt Lick!

12th September

We slept through the check out time and the cleaning lady banged on our door and screamed at us in Spanish, I was so confused, such an odd way to be awoken for a day. We had to check out so we packed all our stuff together and set off in our car towards town. There wasn’t much of a plan for the day, except that we were going to meet up with Jenn and Tracey later that evening and go to a Man vs. Food place for dinner. So we settled in a Starbucks for a few hours to do some odd bits and bobs online.

We then found our way to a mall, Barton Creek Mall, just south west of Austin, it was around 3pm by the time we arrived at the mall and we realised that we hadn’t eaten all day, so we went to the food court and grabbed ourselves some food. When walking around the food hall they were into giving these free samples at every place, and they weren’t small tasters, we could have filled ourselves with just tasters! But when we tasted the Thai food we knew we had to buy a whole plate. It was some of the best Thai food I have had, I had rice and pineapple chicken.

We got the call from Jenn that she had finished so we headed back to her place, we got slightly lost though and ended up driving through the hills of Austin which were a stunning view, a brilliant drive so totally worth getting lost!

Once we arrived at Jenn and Tracey’s they were watching Jersey Shore, I had never seen it before, but it was absolutely cringe worthy yet I couldn’t draw my eyes away, we sat and watched two episodes. It was around 7:30 when we headed off for dinner, we were heading towards Salt Lick BBQ, it was about a 45 minute drive south of the city.

Scratch what I’ve said about other BBQ’s so far, this was the best! I hate a platter with all their meats, their ribs were incredible, the glaze on the ribs were what made it, it was slightly crunch then the succulent meat on the inside gave it all the contrast you could ask for! I also had the brisket ,which would fall apart and it was so moist and basically just perfect. For dessert we had their famous pecan pie. Check out the famous pit on which they cook all their delectable meat!

I got myself a Salt Lick T-shirt and then we all headed home. In the parking lot Jennifer ran away from a dune bug and ran through two cones but didn’t see the chain between them and she almost got taken out! Hilarious!

That night Jennifer and Tracey were being saints and letting us stay the night at theirs, once we got back to theirs we started watching Jersey Shore season 1, from the first episode, because we had never seen it, we watched that until about 3am and then we headed to sleep.

QOTD: (while waiting about 20minutes for the toilet at starbucks)

Me (to the guy coming out of the toilet) : “Good shit?”

Cue awkwardness.
